Since I consider the blog to be a family site I usually try and keep my political views to myself. However, from time-to-time I've been known to voice my opinions when I feel strongly about something. That disclaimer out of the way...I decided not to post the actual movie trailer on the blog as this might upset people, but if you are interested in seeing it, here is the link:

Whether you agree with Michael Moore or not, you must agree that health care in America is way out of control. I'm looking forward to this movie, and I hope you enjoy the preview! Sincerely, Meg.

Obviously I agree with you on this issue, but would you rather have socialized medicine like England? What are your thoughts on this issue? If not socialized medicine then what? Just wanted to pick your brain, I just don't know what the solution is to this huge problem in America. Leave it to Michael Moore to take the bull by the horns!
I don't get upset by watching this preview. I just took a communications course this past semester. I think both sides can bend the truth. I completely agree that "the man" who sits in the corporate chair continues to get richer. And yes, our health care issue is out of control. But ONE of the things I don't like about Michael Moore and his movies - he has to bash the president of our country to get a laugh. I don't agree with that. I know you probably love it because you are pretty much a bush hater right? But I don't like how he goes completely to one side with his movies. Comments and quotes were twisted from the truth in his last documentary. I don't trust him personally. But have fun watching it mommaa. Personally it's just not my cup of tea....had the movei been done in better taste and a littel more tactful I might have watched it. But then that wouldn't have been Michael Moore right? I personally am a conspiracy(spelling?) theorist on pharmaceutical companies. I'd like to see a documentary exposing them. And I used to work at Pfizer.....let's chat on that one day....
First of all...thanks for the comments!
As to my feelings about socialized health care, Michael Moore, etc. basically it's this: socialized health care couldn't possibly be any WORSE than the crap we are dealing with right now. There are a lot of people in our country who don't have health coverage, but deserve it. Single mothers being my biggest concern, but I also know entrepreneurs such as Kevin and my brother-in-law Luke who own their own businesses, yet must pay out- of-pocket for medical/hospital bills because it's just too expensive otherwise. I'm sure that they would also like to be able to offer their employees health/dental benefits, but cannot.
Ever hear of COBRA??? Yeah, point taken.
Even if we didn't move to socialized health care, I do think that insurance companies/pharmacies, etc. need to have some kind of reform, regulation or cap placed on them. When Kelly worked for an ear nose and throat specialist, she wanted to pay for Kelly to take a class on how to "bill" the insurance companies because she could never make her books break even. The insurance companies always had an excuse NOT to pay her! It's just like Bush said, "Too many OBGYN's are being bogged down in legal affairs and are not able to practice their-LOVE". he he
In my opinion, insurance companies are crooks of the worst kind and cut corners at every opportunity.
There are laws in place...at least in Utah that are considered "No fault" for automobile accidents. If your car crash bill doesn't exceed $3,000, then the insurance companies don't have to compensate you accordingly. Heather, I'm sure your dad knows all about that CRAP! I'm guessing his settlement wasn't nearly what it should have been been.
As for Michael Moore...Mike agrees with you Leah. He doesn't like his methods. Normally I'm the type of person who subscribes to the philosophy, "The ends don't justify the means", but the issues he brings to light are important and powerful. Who else do you know that could challenge the greedy healthcare lobbyists and bring them to task??? It takes a lot of guts.
As for the intelligence (or lack thereof) of President Bush. I will keep my own thoughts to myself! :)
P.S. One more point if I may...
Right now the rescue workers who survived September 11th are showing up with all kinds of lung problems. The government whom they were protecting has abandoned them, and most of them are out-of-work due to their disabilities, and therefore can't pay for adequate health coverage. This is one instance where I champion Tom Cruise who has set-up a no-cost treatment for the firefighters and policemen who responded to the attacks on the World Trade Center. Nice, huh?
