my favorite things: schnitzel with noodles

Our Thursday night date reaffirmed what I have thought for a long time: sports are much more enjoyable when seen "live".

Some vendors came through Mike's work a few weeks ago, and gave Mike and his boss 4 free tickets to the Jazz/Suns game. Mike's boss, (also named Mike) and his wife Emily (we're in a book club together) all headed up to Salt Lake Thursday for some good food, laughs, and a night of basketball.

Our first destination was one of my local favorites: The Red Rock Brewery. It's the only place in Utah that I've found which serves Chicken Schnitzel. As well as an extensive beer menu, they also make home-brewed sodas (I sadly declined due to my soda fast this year), which are excellent. Of course no trip to the Red Rock would be complete without an order of beer cracker. It's a flat bread that I think is beer battered, and then they top it with fresh herbs and gorgonzola cheese. If you've never tried Red Rock, I definitely recommend it.

After dinner we walked the few blocks to the Delta Center (it will always be the Delta Center to me) and had pretty good seats for the Jazz game. As most of you know, I'm not someone who likes to sit and watch sports all day. In fact, I could pretty much do without. Take me to a game, however, and I always have a great time. There is something kinetic about being in a stadium full of cheering fans, and yelling at the top of your lungs. It also didn't hurt that the Jazz creamed the Suns. Needless to say, it was a great date night, and I hope the vendors come through again with more free tickets.

Jazz games are a blast, especially when you are in the lower bowl and can actually see the plaers without binoculars! I still need to try the red rock brewery, it sounds delish!

I am pretty darn jealous right Mego! I have ALWAYS wanted to see an NBA game in person! Dan said maybe before he deploys we will catch a date night up to see the Jazz. I hope so!

So happy you had such a blast. And I completely agree. Even though I love sports on TV you can't beat a live game!

And we have to go to red rock brewery soon too! Sounds yummy!

I'm so jealous! You had a date night? And it sounds like a blast. I also can do without watching sports on TV, but I've never been to a game (of any kind) that I haven't enjoyed. And I also love the Red Rock Brewery, though I've never had the beer cracker or the chicken schnitzel. They both sound really good!
