Why do we pray? Part II

I just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone who took the time to comment on my last blog, Why do we pray? There were so many good thoughts and ideas that were shared, and I just wanted to tell everyone how much I love and appreciate all of you! I received some invaluable feedback, and my own testimony was strengthened greatly by the discussion. I also received some very sweet and personal e-mails as well as advice from unexpected sources.

I'm sure a lot of you have been wondering why I decided to pick prayer as a topic for my blog. Without revealing too much, I will say that I have been struggling greatly in my own life with my testimony and my faith. Because of this, I have been meeting with my bishop to receive counsel and guidance. One of the topics that was addressed during one of these meetings, was regarding prayer. I told the bishop that although I had a very strong testimony in other areas of the gospel, that prayer was something I have always struggled with. The assignment was then given to me to ask friends and family members why we pray. I naively assumed that everyone would send me the same "canned" response on prayer. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there are as many reasons to pray, as there are people!

As for myself I am learning that God is blessing my life and answering my prayers in many ways, that are even now being revealed to me. There have been many "tender mercies" granted me; answers to questions or problems that are being brought to pass through others. God truly works in mysterious ways! The very act of kneeling before God, with head bowed, is a humbling and sacred act that I am only now beginning to appreciate and understand. And while I still have much to learn, I do know that God is waiting to bless us; we only have to ask. Thank you again to everyone for your love and compassion towards me, and helping me through this journey called life.

Sincerely,

Megan

Megan, how sincere this truly came across of you opening up a little "personal" info into your life.

I have been there my friend and I can be honest and say that prayer is an everyday challenge for me to remember and do but through this trial, we def. learn. and receive answers.

Thanks for sharing! :: All love ::
