As some of you know I have an affinity for a good romance novel. In my humble opinion, most romances (especially historical-which happen to be my favorite) are less than mediocre. There are only a couple of authors who I read with any regularity; and Liz Carlyle happens to be at the very top of my list. I look forward to her book releases with almost the same zeal as I do opening presents on Christmas morning. So it's only natural I have her website bookmarked on my computer and I receive her annual newsletters (via e-mail). Laugh if you must! However, last summer I won her reader's contest and she sent me an autographed book of my choice! Ah, the perks of being a super-fan.Perhaps you are wondering where I am going with all of this? Well, besides putting in a free plug for good old Liz, I like to think that she and I are birds of a feather. We both enjoy a slightly darker romantic story, and we both LOVE England. So today she sent out her annual newsletter and in it she asked her readers if she should start a blog. She thought perhaps her life was too dull to blog. Would anyone care to read it, and if so, would they please respond and let her know? What else was I supposed to do but send her an e-mail voicing my opinion:
Dear Liz-
I'm sending a quick note in response to your, "To blog
or not to blog..." As a person who lives and dies by
her blog I would definitely say, "YES." The beauty of
the blog lies in turning the ordinary and mundane
daily tasks into an extraordinary hodgepodge of
recipes, pictures and journal entries. My in-laws
live out of state, so they are constantly checking my
page to see updates of their grandson. Some of my
friends/family/acquaintances tell me that they check
the blog EVERY SINGLE DAY to see what I'm up to or
thinking about. In my opinion, it's the most
wonderful way to stay in touch! It also affords the
blog-keeper instant gratification. In other words:
blogging is the new e-mail! If you care to check out
mine: www.holdawayhome.blogspot.com, for ideas or as a
comparison feel free.
P.S. I must admit I am counting down the days until
June and July when your books will be released (as
well as Harry Potter). It's going to be a great
summer!
Sincerely your devoted fan,
Megan Holdaway
This was her response:
Thank you, Megan, for sharing that! I love your blog.
Maybe I'm up for it... ?
Cheers,
Liz
