Please make yourself a cup of tea, settle right down with your favorite kitten, and read my review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at Cupcake Chowder.
I called ya last night right as you had left for your Harry date!! I hope you and Mike had a wonderful time!!!!
In response to your comment - I think to support our troops in my opinion means - to give the soldiers that protect our freedoms respect by not degrading the work that they do. I think a common misconception is that you have to be either on one side or the other. I support our friends and family that go and have gone to war. I voted for Pres Bush. Do I agree though with every choice that he has made? No. But do I have my hands on the same information that he has that helps him make his choices? No and I don't for a reason. I am not the leader of this free country. I think it's horrible that people in the same country turn against each other when we should be turning against the enemy that is trying to harm our country. It really is just what the evil terrorists and "bad people" want. To turn us against each other. Is it so bad to trust the man? Has "the man" really hurt us that much? People are called ignorant and naive if they choose to back Bush and his decisions. I agree that most politics are totally corrupt and going to hell in a hand basket. But will that change by everyone else continuing to argue and fight?
I send friends and family care packages when they deploy the same as I would send you a care package. I love them. And they have told me that it helps their stay be a little better. War is not a pretty thing. As Dan and I were talking about this subject, the comment came up that normal people were not meant to view war. And what we were saying is an example of vietnam - the troops came back and everyone trashed them and called them baby killers. What those people didn't see was the soldier in vietnam and age 4 children walking up to US soldiers holding bombs. Would you kill that child if they had a bomb that was trying to harm you?
I just think when the media got involved in the subject and topic of war, it was a sad day. The media shows controversy and what they choose to show of hundreds of hours of video footage.
A great story I just saw about this was when watching Cnn and the host Glenn Beck talking about 2 big stories that were not in the media that were really great important stories. I'll try and find that on U TUBE for you. It really stirred my emotions.
Long comment. Many different subjects to talk about. Great debate subject.
When it comes down to it - a main thought in my response is that I don't think Patriotism and Arrogance are hand in hand. I think patriotism and humilty go hand in hand. The soldier that gives their life for fighting for something he believes in. For the woman that took hundreds of hours to sew our country a flag. I see no arrogance in thos etypes of patriotism.
What made you say that? What are your thoughts? What are some examples of patriotism and arrogance being at such a fine line?
PS Speaking of movie reviews - Just saw Miss Potter with Dan at your suggestion - we both absolutely LOVED it! Thanks so much for the suggestion. How did you like Painted Veil? And how is the Queen? Those are next on my list. Also, we really want to see Flags of our fathers. Peace out home fry - Leah ;) Also - Dan has started a blog himself. The discusssion you started, inspired him. So go check it out!! I am posting under his site name!
