Holkham Hall
When I heard from my cousin, that the movie Atonement (which I have been ranting, raving about and loving), was filmed at Holkham Hall I very nearly swooned!
You see, when Mike and I were in England (almost 2 years ago now) we had the pleasure of stopping there while in North Norfolk. Unfortunately for us, the house was closed to visitors for the day, but we were allowed to roam the grounds and take some pictures.
I imagine my visit to Holkham was somewhat akin to Elizabeth Bennett's first glimpse of Pemberley: it was nothing short of breathtaking! I never in my life imagined that such houses, grounds and riches could exist in the world. *sigh* It was magical, beautiful and intimidating all at once. For those who have never been, I hope you have the pleasure of going someday. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures!
