Can I just say, I love M. Russell Ballard?
Although General Conference held many great talks, thoughts, spiritual insights and music, I have to say hands-down my favorite moment was a talk given to young mothers by M. Russell Ballard. (I listened to it again this morning). It was so wonderful to hear inspired words, from a man of God, on his appreciation and respect for women and mothers everywhere. He spoke about all the physical and spiritual lifting, twisting and bending women must do to take care of themselves, their husbands, their families, jobs, church callings and home responsibilities.
There are many times as a wife and mother I have felt supremely inadequate. His words touched my heart, and made me feel better about the small and simple things I accomplish every day. He spoke about a photograph of two children taken on a picnic blanket. After many years, the mother of the two children reflected on the photograph, and wondered what they had been talking or thinking about that day? There is so much joy to be found in the small moments of life. It's also important for women to take time for themselves: "Water cannot be drawn from an empty well." It made my whole day to hear Brother Ballad's kind words and thoughtful insights into motherhood!

It was my favorite talk as well. I think they should publish it in a little book for us to have for any of the times we are feeling low, and discouraged.
It was my favorite too! Lately, I've just felt so tired, so inadequate, so harried that I have not been enjoying motherhood or my kids. Not for any particular reason, except that Ryan is two and Sofia is teething . . . He helped me realize that it's not easy for any of us, we all struggle, but there are some things that we can do to help ourselves.
I need to fill up my well a little more, worry a little less, just enjoy the time I have, and leave them with Nate a little more too.
I hate to sound cliche, but this was also my favorite talk. I was so tired from getting in late the night before so I kept falling asleep throughout all of conference. For some reason, right as Elder Ballard started speaking my eyes and ears perked right up and I felt like it was just what I needed to hear. I am so grateful that we have understanding leaders that are in our corner!
Well, this grandma thought it was my favorite talk. I want you to know that I appreciate you all - especially Megan and my other favorites. Without you, we grandmas wouldn't be so happy. Enjoy each moment. They will be grown before you know it.
Love, Grandma
I seriously loved that talk as well and made me feel so good!!
alright! someone has to differ from the norm! This was a great talk but I have to say that Pres. Monson was speaking directly to me when he spoke last on sunday morning. Matt and I were actually in the car driving up to salt lake to be at the second session and I was bawling by the time we hit 106 south. He just has such a gentle way about him. He always has. The way he spoke was so uplifting to me and I knew at that point and time that I would follow him in anything he asked. He is such a good man, filled with the spirit. I also loved Holland and Erying's talks. So bold!
It seems that every conference I listen to gets shorter and shorter and my heart just sinks when they announce we will be dismissed for 6 months!
thanks for posting this!
love you!
