Unfortunately for me I started off girls camp with a raging head cold that knocked me out for a couple of days. I was able to make it up to camp all three days, but I only ended up spending the night on the last day. Despite my sickness, I honestly had a really great time, and I felt like I got to know the girls and the leaders on a much deeper level. (It's definitely not the same as getting together twice a week for a few hours!) There are so many kindred spirits in my ward, and some amazing women in this church. I cannot believe the blood, sweat and tears that went into making this a special deal for the girls, and I am constantly in awe of our ward and stake leaders who devoted so much time and energy to camp.

Some of the highlights of camp for me were the fabulous dutch oven meals that our president Miss Anna made...I'm talking fried chicken, cheesy potatoes, homemade rolls and peach cobbler every night! Needless to say, we weren't hurting for food or treats. I loved singing around the campfire, the sharing of testimonies, our bishopric and their wonderful gospel insights, and of course just goofing off and having fun with the girls. It's strange, because I remember doing lots of movie quotes and hamming it up for the girls when I was in young womens, and this time around it seems that nothing has changed. I even had one girl accidentally spray me in the face with her water, because she was laughing so hard. (Of course it's all a testament to my skill as a consummate actress.)
In short, girls camp 2008 rocked! But, I'm really really glad I don't have to do this again for another year.

What is the new pic you have in your header? I want to go there!!!
Glad to hear you made it back alive! That really sucks about the head cold. I agree, girls camp is the absolute best time to get to know each other! Hope you are feeling better! BTW - What was your theme and it looks like all the girls got hoodie sweatshirts? Do share where you bought those so cheap? -Suzanne
I'm glad that your girls camp turned out so well. Our girls are headed out the first part of August and they are excited!! I won't be in attendance this year, but I'm sure they'll have lots of great stories and pictures to share when they get back. Glad you had fun.
I'm glad that despite the cold, you were able to make for at least some of it. Girls Camp is such a wonderful experience (and totally different from Scout Camp)! I hope I can go next year . . .
Gotta love Girl's Camp! I am sure the girl's loved having you up there. Are you going to Heber on Thurs?
Girls Camp rocks! One of my favorite memories was when we found an old construction cone by the lake and turned it into a giraffe with a long balloon head, and named him Jeffrey, and he was our camp mascot! Also when Cheryl had to sing I'm a Little Teapot to get back something she had left lying around.
Of course it would be a good time with you there! It's alot different when you have to be the leader though..
Great pictures! I love the new header too.. You always find such beautiful pictures!
Of course I'll share my mom with you :) And it was so fun meeting your dad. He is great!
