because i have been given much

So, it's 12:30 AM and of course I can't sleep. I've been catching up on everyone else's blogs, and I was thinking of just how much I have to be grateful for. Mike came home yesterday with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for me, and it gave me pause to ponder over how lucky I am. I have a girlfriend whose husband is in Iraq, and although I'm sure he'd like to bring home surprises for her, it's just not feasible or affordable. (You can make it to November Leah)! On another note, all our hard work in the garden has been paying off. We are bringing in more armloads of fruit and vegetables than we can possibly eat. ( I think one of the best things about a garden is sharing your hard work with family and friends). Peter loves to go help dad pick (and eat) raspberries, and Mike could probably dine on steamed squash every night! A garden is one of the most rewarding and satisfying things in my life.Along those lines, I have been doing some service for a family in our ward that is really struggling at this time. Without going into a lot of details, it boggles my mind that there really are people right in our own neighborhoods that don't have enough to eat. In my narrow-minded view of the world I think of "the hungry" as some nameless or faceless person in a remote third-world country (my ignorance knows no bounds). Yet here in my own small corner of the world, there is incredible suffering, and incredible acts of charity simultaneously taking place. I have been blessed with so much, and I have a renewed desire to appreciate the small and simple things of life.

Meg,
Thanks for the great reminder of being thankful for all the things that we often take for granted. I loved the flowers Mike gave you, that really is sweet that your hubby does things like that for you.
Peter sure makes those raspberries look good!

It is always surprising what you can find beneath a sometimes normal surface.

Great little thankful post Meg.
Your Mike sure loves and adores you. Not just by the things he does for you, but the way he looks at you! The flowers are beautiful!

I wish I lived close by to you. I have wanted a zucchini for a while, and usually my neighbors are giving them away.. Not the case this year. I'm going to have to go to the store where it doesn't even taste as good!

I am thankful for you Megan! You are such a blessing to me, and I'm grateful we have gotten closer this year! Thanks for getting me to read again, and for always giving me reviews of whats good to read! I *heart* you!

I was admiring your veggies on the counter. I SO want to grow a garden. My idea really got going when Bell Peppers were costing $2.00 a piece!

And seriously why do flowers have to be $90 bucks online? Rediculous I tell you. Thanks for thinking of me......I know what you mean though about feeling blessed. I am currently helping a family in Dan's unit. Wife and 6 kids and no water due to broken sewage pipe.

I'm just so grateful lately that I have more than enough money to pay off debt and get a cheese pizza every now and then....let alone have water, electricity, and other utilities. :)

I'm so jealous of your garden!!! Those are some gorgeous vegetables. I'm just glad that Costco's peaches taste somewhat like the ones from my old backyard.
