5. Brace yourselves...When I was 16 years old my dad took me to a Star Trek convention for my birthday and I met Marina Sirtis (aka Counselor Deanna Troi from Star Trek TNG). It was amazing to be out there amongst my fellow nerds. I had never seen so many geeks in one place at the same time in my entire life. It was awesome! It felt like a coming-out party of sorts for me. I was finally embracing my nerd-dom. I still enjoy a good TNG re-run from time to time.
4. Most of you know that I went to CEU on a full-ride debate scholarship. While I was there, my partner Ryan and I competed at the GSL tournament (a nationally renowned competition), where we took first place in Parliamentary Debate. We were the only novice team competing against 50+ JV teams, even beating the #1 team at that time. It was kind of a big deal. If you don't believe me, I still have the trophy in a box in my storage room.
3. One of my most embarrassing moments of all time...My friend Kathy and I wanted to audition for The Secret Garden at the Scera Theater in Orem. It was kind of a joke really. Most of you know I'm not much of a singer, and The Secret Garden is a musical. Of course we didn't even make the first cut, but Kathy's mother, ever the resourceful stage mom was determined that we get cast, even if it was as a back-up dancer. She pulled some strings and found out when the dance auditions would be taking place, hoping to work us into the line-up. Unfortunately, we arrived 2 hours late dressed in our sexy unitards and dance shoes. Still not willing to give up she found out that second-cut singing auditions were taking place in the same building. She snuck us in (we must have looked like total idiots sitting there in our dance outfits) just as warm-ups were concluding. As we found our seats, we were handed a piece of sheet music, and suddenly in front of 100 people the director asked Kathy and I to stand up and sing the first two solos. Kathy at least made it through the entire song, I however cracked under the pressure and asked to be excused.
2. I don't like chick-flicks. I don't know why. It could be the formulaic plot-lines. The cheesy love scenes. The same repetitive character stereotyping. It just doesn't seem realistic to me. "Quirky" girl meets, "Nice-guy-who-can't-catch-a-break". They fall in love. Happily Ever After. Blah blah blah. I need something more meaty than that. If it stars any of the following actresses I usually refuse to see it: Meg Ryan, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, Sandra Bullock and Lindsay Lohan. That's not to say I'm a total cynic when it comes to watching movies, I just think I have a little more refined taste. A real chick-flick to me is a romance with some depth. Some of my favorites: Pride & Prejudice, An Ideal Husband, Somewhere In Time, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Sliding Doors.
1. My secre
t fantasy would be to work as a Belle or Cinderella at Disneyland. When I was a little girl I used to tell people that I wanted to sell churros next to the Matterhorn at the happiest place on earth. Most of you would probably balk at my dream of "aiming high", but I figured that if I worked there it just might be possible to go on some of the rides from time to time. (I must say I was a clever little girl). Now that I'm a bit older, selling churros isn't exactly appealing, but I do admire those beautiful women who get dressed up every day and pretend to be a Disney princess. Just to see the smiles on those little girls faces when they get their picture taken with me. It would be a dream come true, and perhaps now and then they would let me go on a ride.

That is the best post ever Meg! ;) I love that you have your own dreams and opinions, you say them...even if it goes against the norm. I aspire to be like you. Okay my own confesison - I have always wanted to be a dancing granny when I grow up. They are these 60+ year old women who wear these way cool unitards and spandex tights. I used to go watch them with my grandma sue when we would camp at her campground. I also would love to be a "Disney" character for a movie and sing a little diddy just like snow white(only not so nasaly). Also - remind me to tlel you about my new great idea to make my kitchen (when we move) in to vintage/retro from the 50's. So FUN!
That was awesome, Megan! Most of those I already knew...but I still learned a few new things about you & Wow i was laughing out loud at the the Disneyland worker!! Total nostalgia... Only i thought it was popcorn in front of space mountain?
P.S. Now you need a post of your new sexy blond tresses!
I didn't know any of those! I love getting to know new things (and such fun and interesting things to boot!).
