Living Planet Aquarium

The first Monday of every month is 1/2 price at the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy. Since Mike and I both had the day off work (Labor Day), we decided to mix things up a bit and take Peter to see some fish. The place was pretty crowded (because of the discount, the holiday or the fact that it was FHE in Utah - I'm not sure), however we waited in line and pushed our way past several spectators to get a good view of the tanks. I have to admit, growing up in Southern California with Sea World, Scripps Aquarium and the San Diego Zoo, I was slightly disappointed with one of Utah's few places to see wildlife (the tanks were pretty small, and there wasn't much variety). However, the fish seemed well cared for, and let's face it, beggars can't be choosers! Everyone agreed that the graceful jellyfish were pretty cool, but I'm sure Peter would argue that the sting ray petting pool was the funnest of all. Mom was a little scared to touch the sting rays at first, but dad just stuck his hand right in and went for it. Peter soaked himself splashing in the water (it was too deep for him to touch one of the ray's), but he did have a lot of fun - especially when we let him out of the stroller to run around the children's area and find hidden treasures. If you have never been to the aquarium I recommend a trip, but definitely don't pay full price. Might I suggest the first Monday of the new month?

I havent been here yet, so I appreciate the review. If we go, we'll do that monday for sure. I'm too cheap to pay full price for anything anymore!

We went last winter and we had a ball. I liked the aquarium, although I don't have the same comparisons as Sea World like you do. It was great for us on a cold winter day and Shae had a ball. I will add to your post that it is a fun little place to go! -Suzanne

How fun!!!! I got to feed stingrays at Sea World when I was about 12. That was so amazing. So, I guess I'd have to agree with Peter!!

Thanks so much for the tip! I have actually been looking for fun indoor places to bring Ben to. With winter coming soon I want options to not go stir crazy! I think this place would be fun. Sea World can almost be too overwhelming and tiring for Ben. It's a good fun though. But a smaller scaled aquarium would be fun for him. Maybe we'll go the first Mon in Oct!
