My best little neighborhood buddy, and former CTR 8 alumni, Jonathan, is moving out of our ward. *sniff*
You might remember Jonathan from this picture:
Or even this:
This is one of my favorites:
Jonathan has been a very good friend to me over the past few years. He has also taught me a lot about what to expect from Peter when he becomes a 9 year old boy. Jonathan is smart, kind, helpful and a lot of fun to be around. For instance, did you know that not everyone likes Chinese food? I once made Jonathan try some when he was over at the house. Apparently it isn't very good, but peanut butter and jelly is definitely considered gourmet fare. I've also learned how to make (sort of) origami cranes (and apparently paper crabs are popular too). Jonathan can also whip you up some killer sugar cookies - and he even makes personal deliveries. Also, Star Wars is a whole lot of fun to watch, but see it with a little boy who knows all the names of the weapons, ships, locations and characters? It's an enlightening experience to say the least.Jonathan also leaves the best phone messages. Ever. For example:
"Hi this is Jonathan. I just wanted to see if I could come over. And I wanted to show Megan a little song I learned. Here it is: *rapid piano playing.* My cousin taught me it last night. And I really want to show you it, and teach you. And I made a giant crane. But I really want to see you. Call me back. Bye. Jonathan." *More muffled piano playing.*
I just love coming home and seeing his phone number on my caller I.D. 20 times. Or getting a random knock on my door. Or getting tackled like a football player in the hall at church because Jonathan is giving me one of his world-class hugs. Nothing makes me smile faster.Jonathan, my little guardian angel, you will be missed (but I promise to call and visit from time-to-time). Please don't forget me!
All my love,
Sister Holdaway
xoxo

You're a lucky girl Megan, to have a friend like that. I loved this post!
It made me wish I had a friend like Jonathon.
What a cutie! And how sweet that he has totally latched on to you! That is adorable! How sad that he can't come over all the time when he goes through the teenage years! Maybe he will when he can drive!
So cute!
I love that you have been so great to him. Your one of those people that he is going to remember as being a great influence on him as a child..
